FROM THE EAST: |
|
 |
Japanese Hot
Stone Massage – hot basalt river stones are used to create a state
of deep relaxation and healing in the body. This style of massage,
based on Anma (the oldest form of East Asian massage) treats the whole
body, mind and spirit. Hot stone massage can be gentle and calm to
relieve stress or deep and penetrating to reduce back, neck and
shoulder tension. |

Ashiatsu
Oriental Bar Therapy – Ashiatsu is an adaptation of an ancient
form of barefoot massage using a combination of deep compression and
gliding strokes. Overhead bars provide stability for the
therapist. The amount of even pressure that is applied to the body
by the feet can rarely be achieved by the hands alone. Ashiatsu is
recommended for those in need of stress reduction as well as for the
relief of chronic back discomfort. This versatile massage can be
given using light, moderate or deep pressure. It is the therapy of
choice for the seasoned client who never feels a massage is “deep
enough.” |

Foot
Reflexology – Reflexology reduces stress, promotes relaxation
and a sense of well-being. It is a form of natural healing which
has been practiced for centuries and is based on the Chinese
theory that reflex points in the feet correspond to other areas of
the body. Reflexologists apply appropriate pressure to these
points to stimulate the flow of energy. |
|
This helps to
relieve pain or blockages throughout the entire body. After
enjoying a warm and soothing herbal foot soak, you will receive a
very pleasurable form of bodywork. |

|
| Usui Reiki
(ray-key) – Reiki is an ancient healing art known as the
Universal Life Force Energy. When the flow of energy within us is
disrupted, our health and well-being are compromised. Reiki does not
require any form of manipulation of the tissue or muscles. The
recipient remains fully clothed while lying comfortably on a massage
table. The practitioner’s hands are placed on or above the body in the
recipient’s energy field. During the session, one may experience
sensations such as warmth or tingling from the flow of Reiki
energy. It can also provide an emotional release for some. |

Thai Yoga
Massage – developed in Thailand many centuries ago, Thai
Yoga Massage is a comprehensive and interactive form of body work that
is delivered with the hands, arms, feet and legs. It relieves muscular
tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and helps to
balance the body's energy meridians. |
|
The recipient is
fully clothed and placed on a floor mat where the practitioner
guides them through a series of yoga postures representing a
harmonious and therapeutic dance. This healing art combines
therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, rhythmic rocking and
acupressure. Thai Yoga Massage is easily adapted to benefit anyone,
regardless of age, gender, anatomy or flexibility. |

FROM THE WEST: |
|
|

|
Classic
Western Massage – is generally regarded as the most common form of
massage (Swedish or European Massage) combining long flowing strokes
with gentle kneading and stretching to improve circulation, reduce
stress and soothe tired or aching muscles. This form of massage is
especially suited to those who prefer a lighter touch. |
|
|
Deep Tissue
Massage – is delivered using slow strokes and direct pressure. Friction
is sometimes applied across the grain of the muscles. The therapist
may use fingers, thumbs, forearms or elbows to work deeply into the
muscle and connective tissue. Trigger point therapy, neuromuscular
techniques and myofascial release may also be combined with this form
of massage to treat chronic pain, sore or injured muscles. |
|
 |
Prenatal
Massage – Pregnancy is a time of major physiological,
psychological, spiritual and social change for women. Regular massages
during pregnancy benefit both Mom and Baby by supporting the
circulatory system, increasing cellular respiration, reducing edema
and calming the nervous system. Pregnancy massage can alleviate neck,
back and sciatica pain, reduce anxiety, promote relaxation and sleep
and help to prepare the body for the impending labor. |
|
|
Sports
Massage – is a highly refined combination of Classic
Western (Swedish) and Deep Tissue Massage that is specially adapted to
the needs of athletes and the effects of athletic performance. Sports
massage is both preventative and therapeutic; it aids in the
prevention of injury, improves flexibility, enhances performance and
speeds the recovery time for overtaxed muscle tissue. These
testimonials are validated by a great many professional and
world-class athletes. |
